Brisbane Universities

The qualifications from the universities are nationally and internationally recognised and there is an extensive variety of courses to choose from.

 

There are three universities based in Brisbane:

 

QUT is one of Australia’s largest universities with 40, 000 enrolled students including 4500 international students from over 90 countries. The main campus is located near Queensland Parliament House. QUT has a strong focus on technological research and is a member of the Australian Technology Network along with the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Curtin University of Technology (in Perth) and the University of South Australia.

 

Griffith is the youngest of the three universities, founded in 1971 but has grown quickly with over 37,000 enrolled students including 6000 postgraduate students. Its main campuses are in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It was named after the former Premier of Queensland and former High Court of Australia judge, Sir Samuel Griffith.

 

University of Queensland (UQ)

Founded in 1909, UQ is the oldest university in Queensland and is the fifth oldest in Australia. The main campus is located southwest of Brisbane’s Central Business District. UQ is a nationally and internationally recognised and highly ranked educational institution and is part of the Universitas 21, an international collection of research-intensive universities. 

Other university members include Australia’s University of Melbourne and University of New South Wales, Canada’s McGill University and University of British Columbia, and England’s University of Nottingham and University of Birmingham.
