Stop jumping up on people!

I looked after a place once that had a dog and this dog would always be jumping on people! It was quite embarrassing to have to constantly deal with when visitors came over!
To stop this I would always hold onto the dog's collar when people would come near and make sure it wouldn't jump up. When it didn't jump up I would reward it with doggy treats and after a long process the dog soon realised that jumping up was wrong.
Soon I was able to let the dog go when people came over as it would be a good dog and simply sit and ask for a pat. I couldn't ask for more than that from the dog and was very pleased it was listening to me!
